Sprint

Product Design Sprint

A 3-5 day sprint to find the right solution and build the first prototype.

Product Design Sprint

About

Reduce the risk of building the wrong product

Small team, short cycle, big impact

In a Design Sprint we build and validate your first product prototype with a team of multi-disciplinary specialists from your organization, Xebia Studio, and end users. We work with a highly-structured 3-5-day innovation cycle based on the Google Ventures Sprint framework. During the Design Sprint, we focus on the right problems to solve first and iterate towards a validated idea using prototypes.

We always build with the end in mind. We want our customers to innovate for long-term business value. This means that during our sprints, we focus on designing products that not only fit your customer needs, but also your tech infrastructure, strategic objectives, your organizational readiness for the product.

A Design Sprint is ideal to kick off corporate digital innovations.

Results

A validated solution that fits your customers and your organization

prototype

First prototype

We build a first digital prototype with which we’re able to test two things: the desirability for the product - is it something the customer wants? And the feasibility of the product – Does it fit your organization?

user

User testing / validation

We test the prototype with 5-8 customers. No matter how great the idea - it lives or dies depending on user validation. Prototype tests provide early-stage opportunities to check functionality, User Experience, and product/market fit, before building a final solution.

go nogo

Go / No Go

Every Design Sprint ends with a concept evaluation. That is ultimately why you start the sprint: to check in a short time, at a low price, whether your concept is desirable, feasible and viable. At the end of the sprint, we answer the question whether it’s smart to invest further or not.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The structure of our Design Sprint

Trust the process

A Design Sprint takes 3 to 5 days, where each day has a specific purpose and end goal. Although creativity is important, we always stick to (and trust) the process. This way you’ll benefit from getting focused people in a room to tackle assumptions, brainstorm ideas, bring one (or more) to life, and put it to the test.

Understand

Monday

1

The first day is about understanding your users and their goals. We analyze available data, define personas, create customer journeys, and benchmark. We also develop an understanding of the technology landscape to take into account for successful integration. The outcome of day 1 is an agreed-upon user flow for specific use cases and a shared understanding of priorities. We finish the day by logging potential directions that may be out of scope now, but possibly valuable for the future.

Diverge

Tuesday

2

Now that you have an understanding of the user flow and core interactions, we spend the second day sketching and iterating through ideas. The outcome of the second day is a set of wireframe sketches that accommodate the workflow defined in Day 1. Some of the wireframes have gone through several rounds of sketching and exploration. In addition, there is a pile of “crazy idea” sketches that give context to the direction that was selected to move forward.

Decide

Wednesday

3

This is when big decisions are made. All ideas from Day 2 will be collected and put into a coherent whole. The goal of today is to identify the best ideas and decide which of them should be prototyped tomorrow. We’ll assess each solution against the goals defined at the beginning of the process, including the technological feasibility. We’ll end the day by creating a storyboard of the user experience of the selected idea to give the team everything they need for the forth day.
